Spring leaders chosen for KSU student media

The Student Media Board selected the following people as student media leaders for the Spring 2007 semester yesterday:
• Seth Roy
Spring 2007 position: Daily Kent Stater editor
Current position: Daily Kent Stater managing editor
• Jessica Lentine
Spring 2007 position: The Burr editor
Current position: The Burr art director
• Micah Manus
Spring 2007 position: Black Squirrel Radio general manager
Current position: Black Squirrel Radio general manager
• Meredith Jones
Spring 2007 position: TV-2 general manager
Current position: TV-2 operations manager
• Julie Bercik
Spring 2007 position: TV-2 news director
Current position: TV-2 assistant news director
• Meghan Williams
Spring 2007 position: Daily Kent Stater sales manager
Current position: Daily Kent Stater sales representative
Tim Smith, chairman of the Student Media Board, said each candidate’s experience weighs heavily on the board’s decision.
“The background they bring to the job is important,” he said. “We’re looking for people who have filled other roles with the organization to make sure they’re familiar with the operations.”
Staff applications for the Daily Kent Stater will be available Nov. 27 and will be due by 5 p.m. Dec. 4. Applications for The Burr are available now. Applications for top editing positins for The Burr and are due by 5 p.m. Monday. Other staff applications are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 27.
TV-2 and Black Squirrel Radio tryouts will be held at the beginning of next semester.
The Student Media Policy Committee will meet Dec. 1, to select the editors of Fusion, Luna Negra, Artemis and Uhuru.
Lori Cantor, senior business manager in the Office of Student Media, said there are no candidates for Uhuru.
