Cross country teams continue to struggle

Senior Stephanie Blackstone once again led the way for the Kent State womens cross country team. The Flashes placed No. 6 out of 13 teams Saturday at the Falcon Cross Country Invitational at Bowling Green.
Blackstone ran the 5,000-meter race in 18 minutes and 25.35 seconds, which was seventh overall out of 195 runners.
Senior Tiffany Brenneman was the second fastest Flash and finished 26th overall with a time of 19:04.09. Junior Brittany Durkin finished 28th overall with a time of 19:04.98.
The Kent State men’s cross country team was at Indiana State for the Pre-Nationals Saturday. The men finished 33rd out of 36 teams.
Senior Seth Hutchinson led the Flashes, finishing 66th overall out of 243 runners with a time of 24:38 in the 8,000-meter run. Senior Ben Wietmarschen was the second best runner for the Flashes finishing 111th overall with a time of 24:56. The cross country national championship meet will be on the same course a month from now.
Kent State will host the Short Course Classic on Friday.
