The Kent State men’s and women’s track and field teams placed fourth at the All-Ohio Championship this weekend in Columbus.

The Akron Zips placed first in the women’s competition with a composite score of 189.50, while the Ohio State Buckeyes took first in the men’s competition with 187 points.

Senior Brent Shelby finished first place in the shot put with 17.98 meters. He also placed second in the discus throw with 50.54 meters and fifth in the hammer throw with 54.54 meters.

Sophomore Jaroslaw Zakrewski placed first in the hammer throw with 61.62 meters, while junior Andy Nicholas finished behind Zakrewski for second place with 60.85 meters.

On the track, I.P. Harris landed third place in the triple jump with 14.15 meters, while taking fourth place in the long jump with a mark of 7.18 meters.

Although the women’s team saw no first-place finishes, it saw plenty of second-place finishes.

Senior Jennifer Fascione finished second in the 800 meter run with a time of 2 minutes 12.62 seconds, while her sister Jeanna Fascione placed second in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:38.95.

In the 400 meter hurdles, senior Gabrielle Plocka finished second with a time of 1:05.48, and Beckah Stolz placed second in the javelin throw with a distance of 43.32 meters.

Sophomore Levania Henderson placed third in the shot put with a throw of 14.30 meters and second in the discus with a distance of 44.94 meters. Senior Kelly Braden finished third in the hammer throw with a throw of 56.22 meters.

The Flashes will travel to Knoxville, Tenn., this weekend to compete in the Sea Ray Relays.
