The Kent State men’s and women’s track and field teams had their last shot at breaking more records and qualifying for the NCAA Division-I Indoor Championship Friday and Saturday, but their chance came up short.

For the women’s team, Stephanie Hunt finished sixth in the 400-meter race with a time of 55.23.

On the field, Jackie Rodgers tied for sixth on the pole vault with Arkansas State’s Sara Young with a distance of 3.72 meters. LeVania Henderson finished third in the shot put with a throw of 14.44 meters, while Kelly Braden threw 18.47 meters in the weight throw.

For the men’s team, Marc Johnson placed second in the 60-meter dash with a final time of 6.79. Seth Hutchinson finished ninth in the 5000-meter run, running 14:25.63.

In the field events, Pawel Dutkiewicz placed sixth in the long jump with a distance of 7.19 meters. Brent Shelby finished fourth in the shot put with a 17.06-meter throw, while Jaroslaw Zakrzewski placed third in the weight throw, throwing 19.44 meters.

The NCAA Championships will end the indoor track and field season, and the Charlotte Invitational will start the outdoor season on April 4.
