Gymnastics team grabs MAC honors after pair of wins

The Kent State gymnastics team racked up the Mid-American Conference honors this week after a pair of wins last weekend.
Senior gymnast Carrie Mayle was named MAC Gymnast of the Week after a career-best weekend. Mayle led the Flashes to wins over Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan. She claimed both all-around titles after an all-around score of 39.000 at Central Michigan and a career-best, all-around score of 39.400 against Eastern Michigan.
Mayle also finished among the top five in all of her other events as well with scores of 9.775 and 9.875 on the vault, 9.675 and 9.8 on the uneven bars and a 9.725 on the balance beam.
Other than Mayle, junior Amy Cucinotta was named MAC Specialist of the Week. Cucinotta claimed two personal-bests and two first-place finishes. At Central Michigan, she tied for No. 1 in the floor exercise with a score of 9.825. She also tied for first on the beam with her personal best of 9.825 against Eastern Michigan.
The Flashes next face Bowling Green at 7 p.m. Friday at the M.A.C. Center.
