Softball to compete against Buckeyes

The Kent State softball team will travel to the state’s capital this weekend as it competes in the Ohio State Buckeye Invitational in Columbus.
The Flashes (7-7) are coming off a split weekend at the Florida State Invitational, where they went 3-3.
Kent State is ranked No. 3 in the Mid-American Conference East Division behind No. 1 Bowling Green and No. 2 Miami.
Senior pitcher Brittney Robinson and sophomore first baseman Jamie Fitzpatrick swept the Mid-American Conference weekly honors. Robinson was named MAC East Pitcher of the Week and Fitzpatrick was named MAC East Player of the Week.
Ohio State (9-10) sat last weekend as the Evansville Tournament was canceled due to rain.
The Flashes face the Buckeyes at 3 p.m. today and Youngstown State at 5 p.m. tomorrow.
