Tickets to see the Kent State men’s basketball team compete in the NCAA Tournament Friday sold out at the M.A.C. Center in less than two hours.

Kent State Ticket Manager Gail Moseley said it was the fastest she had ever seen tickets sell for a Kent State event. Fans started lining up at the box office around 6 a.m. Monday.

“I got here around 8 a.m., and it looked like people were camping out to buy concert tickets,” Moseley said. “We’ve had that happen for Indians tickets and Garth Brooks concerts, but never for an event for the university.”

Kent State was allotted 550 tickets that were sold for $60 each. They were sold out by 10 a.m. Monday, and by Tuesday evening there was a waiting list with about 90 names. To get on the waiting list, Moseley said to head to the box office at the M.A.C. Center as soon as possible.

Tickets for the session Kent State will be playing in are still on sale through the Palace of Auburn Hills. The session includes six games, and admission for one person costs $180 plus a $9 handling charge. They can be purchased online at www.palacenet.com or by calling (248) 377-0100.

If Kent State beats Pittsburgh Friday, Moseley said fans should buy tickets through the Palace because the box office at the M.A.C. Center will not be open before they would play Sunday in the second round.

Tickets for any games Kent State would play in after this weekend first will be offered to the people who bought first-round tickets, Moseley said. However, the best chance for students is to get their names on the waiting list.
