Patient is a word co-workers used to describe Judith E. Green, a former account clerk supervisor who died after a battle with breast cancer.

Lisa Taylor, longtime friend and co-worker, said patient was a word Green herself used to describe her.

Green’s job required patience, said former co-worker Barb Boltz, an information services project director.

“Judy often had to deal with upset parents or students, and she was always very empathetic and would always go the extra mile to help,” she said. “She helped keep the atmosphere in the Bursar’s office uplifting.”

Green, who died Jan. 27 at the age of 64, worked at the Bursar’s office for 27 years. She began her career at Kent State in 1976 as an account clerk, a position she held until her 1981 promotion to account clerk supervisor.

She remained supervisor until she retired Jan. 31, 2003. After her retirement, she became involved with Relay for Life.

As an office tradition, anyone who retires from their office is presented with a quilt that includes cross-stitchings from other employees. Green always included her own cross-stitching in the quilt.

“Everybody has good memories of her,” Taylor said. “We were very lucky to have her here in the Bursar’s office, as were the students.”
