The previous home of the Country Diner now has one assembled booth. It’s covered with construction debris.

In a matter of weeks the dust will be swept away and all the vibrant painting and wall texturizing will be complete. And a new 24-hour restaurant will welcome patrons.

Luna’s Grill and Restaurant will open in March at 1225 W. Main St.

Owner Mike Tabba is putting about $250,000 into renovations.

Striving to be student-friendly, Luna’s also will offer free wireless Internet connections.

If not dining at the counter, it’s booth seating, with seats sectioned off with privacy walls and a separate party room. The party room can be reserved for free with one day’s notice and has a television.

A wide-screen plasma television will float above the fireplace in front of the low-standing eating counter, and two other televisions will be suspended throughout the restaurant.

Luna’s will also have a smoking section.

Food will be served 24 hours, from breakfast and lunch to dinner and late-night snacks. Sticking to the student-friendly theme, the food is inexpensive.

Weekday breakfast specials are $2.95, and the most costly dinners are $8.99 for an 8-oz. baked orange roughy, chicken Dijon or saut‚ed chicken parmesan.

Most dinners are $6.99, and the menu also includes appetizers, homemade soups, salads, wraps, hot and cold sandwiches and burgers. Vegetarian options are available, too.

“We also have mouth-drooling homemade desserts,” Tabba said. “So many varieties of cheesecakes – Snickers, raspberry – and chocolate suicide. They are something to brag about.”

Everyone who comes to Luna’s will receive a coupon for $1 off their next visit. This is not a grand-opening promotion, but an everyday event at all of the chain’s locations.

The first Luna’s Grill and Restaurant was opened in 1995. The chain is named after Tabba’s wife with locations also in Wadsworth, Fairlawn and Northfield.

Tabba will open his first Luna’s Krusty Krab Seafood Restaurant at 10333 Northfield Rd. in a month.

Krusty Krab, which his 7-year-old son named after the underwater caf‚ in Spongebob Square Pants, will host an entirely different menu focusing on seafood. The highest priced meal will be $11.95, Tabba said.

The new Luna’s restaurant is a 5,000-square-foot space. It seats 150 people and has a party room for 40. Tabba and general manager Youseff Daoudi stress there is no time limit to seating.

“It’s a nice atmosphere to hang out in and is European-styled.” Tabba said. “Come in late and have a coffee and cheesecake.”
