PARTA reserves front seats for Parks in remembrance
December 1, 2005
Don’t be surprised to see Rosa Parks riding PARTA today – at least a photo of her, anyway.
PARTA is reserving the first seat in all of its fixed routes, including campus buses, in remembrance of the stand the civil rights activist took toward equality.
Dec. 1 is the National Transit Tribute to Rosa Parks Day, said PARTA Marketing Director Frank Hairston.
“Because of her death and what she meant, we thought it was important to do something special,” he said. “She took a stand on equality on a bus, and since we’re transportation people, we think it’s very important.”
