Cartwright to have coffee with students at annual event
October 31, 2005
The eighth annual Coffee with Cartwright will be held at 6 p.m. tonight in the Eastway Lower Lounge.
Sponsored by the Undergraduate Student Senate, the event provides students the opportunity to meet with President Carol Cartwright and discuss any important issues.
Sunny Brick, senator for student relations, said this event is beneficial to students because it gives them the opportunity to have a one-on-one conversation with Cartwright.
“They get to learn that she is a real person who is willing to talk to the students at her school and address their concerns,” Brick said.
Cartwright said it is an informal way for the university to gather and discuss issues.
But not all discussions are welcome, she said.
“We are asking that no individual problems that may be inappropriate for discussion in a group setting be brought up,” Cartwright said.
Brick said the event may be more successful than in years past because Cartwright has recently announced her retirement.
“This may be the last chance they are able to come speak with Dr. Cartwright,” Brick said.
