Verder Hall looking for student art to display in art studio

Verder Hall is accepting art submissions through Friday to display in the student art studio located on the first floor of the hall.

All media forms are welcome, and if the quality of work is high enough, Verder Hall will offer the exhibit to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Cleveland, said Charles Malone, resident hall director of Verder Hall.

“We expect a lot of work to come in,” Malone said. “It is a great experience and way for artists to get their work out to the public.”

After the juried show, Malone said he hopes to submit the work to MOCA. The museum in Cleveland has a studio called the Sky Lounge where they display work from community members, including university students.

Students can submit a maximum of three pieces, and the pieces can differ in medium.

“We would like to have a wide variety,” Malone said.

The exhibit is part of Verder Hall’s attempt to promote student work in the fine and professional arts living and learning community.

Pieces chosen to be shown in the studio will be displayed through Tuesday in the evenings, and an open house will be held Tuesday at 8 p.m.
