Have fun while building a stronger resume, apply for hall council
September 11, 2005
Leadership opportunities and good life experiences are two reasons to join hall council, said Justin Jeffery, president of Kent Interhall Council.
Elections for hall council vary in each hall, and residents should apply to join, Jeffery said.
“I would tell them it’s not as intimidating as it seems,” he said. “If they do not feel they want a leadership role in their hall council, they can still attend hall council meetings.”
KIC, which overlooks hall council, is currently working on planning the Homecoming bonfire, Octoberfest and leadership programs for the newly elected hall councils, Jeffery said.
“When the newly elected hall council members come into the program we make sure they are educated on their position,” Jeffery said, explaining that members go to regional and national conferences to learn new programs to help build communities in their halls.
Interested residents should contact their resident advisors or KIC. KIC’s general council meetings are at 7 p.m. every Tuesday in the Governance Chambers and are open to the public.
