Students interested in Kent State’s Greek life learned about recruitment and met with members of several Greek organizations at last night’s Greek Info Night held in the Student Center Ballroom.
“We have been preparing for recruitment since the beginning of the spring semester and Greek Info since the beginning of this semester,” said Ashley Messer, junior marketing major and member of Delta Gamma.
Seven sororities and three fraternities set up tables for students interested in Greek life. Representatives from each organization shared information and experiences about being a part of the Greek community to prospective members.
The next step in the recruitment process for women interested in joining a sorority is to sign up online for recruitment.
These women will be contacted by an unaffiliated sorority member who will lead them throughout recruitment, Messer said.
“It is nice to be able to talk to the girls before they sign up for recruitment, so we can answer any questions prior to the parties,” Messer said.
Jessica Lane, president of Panhellenic Council, said starting Sept. 24 women will then attend four parties where they will learn about each sorority, get to meet the women more in-depth and ultimately find out which sorority they have been chosen for.
Mark Treen, member of Sigma Nu, said a Fraternity Fair is being held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow on the second floor of the Student Center. Fraternity members will be present to answer any questions about recruitment for men interested in Greek life.
