April 20, 2005
Kent State’s softball team took one game at Ball State yesterday. The Flashes (20-20, 8-6 Mid-American Conference) were to play a doubleheader against the Cardinals (15-30, 2-9 MAC), but storms in Muncie, Ind., ended the second game after 4 1/2 innings.
The Flashes posted a 1-0 win over the Cardinals in the first game. Sophomore pitcher Brittney Robinson pitched her career-best game with 14 strikeouts. Robinson pitched all seven innings. She gave up two hits, making her record 8-10.
The second game was suspended after two rain delays in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Cardinals were ahead 2-0, but the game was not considered official.
The Flashes travel to Akron this weekend for a three-game series with the Zips, their MAC rival. The weekend begins with a doubleheader at 2 p.m. Saturday, and the teams will play a single game at 1 p.m. Sunday.
