Microsoft, student drop lawsuits, decline to discuss settlement
March 14, 2005
Both Microsoft and Dave Zamos, the senior bio-chemistry major being sued by the software company, have dropped their lawsuits against each other, The Register, an online science and technology publication, reported Friday.
Judge John Adams of the U.S. District Court in Akron made a written statement saying, “The court was informed by all parties that this matter has settled in its entirety. Accordingly, it is hereby ordered that this case is dismissed without prejudice.”
Zamos was not available for comment but previously said any settlement would include a non-disclosure statement.
“One of these terms is that neither of us (Microsoft and myself) will talk about the settlement’s terms or the preceding events,” Zamos said in an e-mail. “I am satisfied with the settlement, and I feel we both came to an agreement on fair terms. I cannot detail the settlement or the preceding events other than to say we’ve both agreed to dismiss our claims.”
