March 9, 2005
World-renowned psychologist Dr. Na’im Akbar will give a presentation, “Today’s Youth of Color: Where is Your Head?,” at 7:30 p.m. today in the Mbari Mbayo Lecture Hall in Oscar Ritchie Hall.
Akbar will address the social concerns of African-Americans, as well as all of humanity.
The event, sponsored by Black United Students, the department of Pan-African studies and the Student Multicultural Center, is a special presentation of the Ebony Speakers Series.
According to Assistant Professor Mwatabu Okantah, Akbar is “only one of the most significant thinkers of our time.”
Akbar said, “Black people in America have a much greater inner power than they realize, but they must rediscover themselves in order to use it.”
