Crain Avenue to receive repairs
March 18, 2005
The eastbound lane of the Crain Avenue Bridge will be receiving emergency repairs on Tuesday from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to a press release from Eugene K. Roberts, city of Kent engineer.
Assistant County Engineer Scott Miller said the problem is not anything to be overly concerned about.
“Basically, the top plate of the expansion joint is loose,” Miller said.
The loose plate has been clanging around and making a lot of noise, which is one of the reasons it needs to be fixed soon.
The plate has become loose because of the recent bad winter weather, said Chris Tolnar, city of Kent design engineer. The concrete surrounding the plate has eroded away, leaving one side unsupported.
