Hey you, are you watching TV-2? Well, if you’re missing the nightly broadcasts of Kent State’s own student-run television station, they are now available on the Web.

Starting last Monday on TV-2’s Web site, www.tv2.kent.edu, the 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. broadcasts can be viewed after 10 p.m. on the Web.

Typical TV-2 broadcasts include national and local news, sports, entertainment, weather and the newly added College Corner segment.

”We are really hoping to re-engage students in all that TV-2 has to offer,” said Chuck Thornton, senior broadcast news major and general manager of TV-2. “We made a lot of changes to the rundown to help us get involved and connect students around campus.”

The recently revamped Web site has links to the Daily Kent Stater, WKSR and the Akron Beacon Journal. TV-2’s Web site will also preview Daily Kent Stater headlines for the next day.

Gary Hanson, faculty adviser to TV-2 and assistant professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, said he is interested in increasing viewership of TV-2.

“Now that TV-2 news is archived, people can watch it on demand,” Hanson said.

Sophomore broadcast journalism major, Ashley White thinks more students will watch TV-2’s broadcasts because they are becoming more accessible.

“Most Kent State students don’t have time to sit down and watch the news on TV,” White said. “But now they can watch the news while they are checking their e-mail or at 3 a.m. if they want to.”
