The Kent City Charter Review Commission heard about 20 recommendations during last night’s meeting.

Several members of Kent City Council recommended proposals to consider for the charter.

Most recommendations dealt with rewording current sections and removing sections that are no longer applicable.

Kent City Councilman Edward Bargerstock discussed the use of language in the charter. He proposed English be made the official language for Kent.

He also wanted to clear up parts of the charter that currently allow for various legal interpretations.

Kent City Councilwoman Carrie Gavriloff made the recommendation to have Parks and Recreation Services operate under the city manager rather than as an independent.

The charter review commission next meets March 3 to discuss sections seven through nine of current charter.

Changes to the charter will be reviewed by city council and then voted on by the public during the November elections.
