Greetings, Golden Flashes! The Stater aims to take more risks this semester and you can count on me to challenge your mindscape with an outside-the-box column each week.

I’m probably the closest thing to an Agent Fox Mulder you’ll find around here. I’ve been around the block a few more times than my youthful looks indicate and have conducted research into many real life “X-Files.” I’ve found a number of intriguing, yet intentionally under-reported phenomena that are crucial to humanity’s positive evolution — phenomena the societal powers-that-be would prefer people not know too much about, so as to maintain the status quo of rat race wage slavery.

Such phenomena include Earth changes; the galactic calendar of the ancient Maya and its Dec. 21, 2012 end date; the ancient prophecies of the Hopi Indians of northeast Arizona; the UFO cover-up; shamanism and the multi-dimensional nature of the cosmos; Tibetan Buddhism and its views on karma and re-incarnation; the role of psychedelic substances in the evolution of human consciousness and more. There’s also crucially related topics such as the long-term ramifications of corporate globalization, “Peak Oil” and New World Order conspiracy theory. My research indicates all these areas are connected.

My aim is to raise awareness about these ideas in hope of creating a ripple effect that will help to elevate the collective consciousness to the higher level it needs to be at to save the planet from humanity’s currently destructive course.

If you don’t think Earthship Titanic needs saving, then I would submit you just aren’t paying enough attention to see the iceberg looming up ahead. It’s understandable — I was blind to such matters too in my undergrad days. Like many of our generation, society led me to believe the world is beyond fixing so I might as well focus on social and monetary matters. It took a couple years of post-collegiate struggle for me to see through The Big Lie — that this paradigm of fear and separation is the way the world has always been and will always be.

With one fact, I can prove capitalism as we know it is a failure to humanity: We have the resources to feed everyone on the planet but don’t do it because it’s not profitable to those who control the resources to do so. Profit for the few trumps the social good of the masses at an ever-alarming rate. We desperately need a new “ism” before the elitist slave drivers wreck the planet.

Today’s youth need to wake up sooner than I did because planet Earth is at a perilous and crucial juncture in history, and it’s up to Generations X and Y to rise up and save the day. The Hopi have a great saying: “We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”

Many across the globe are starting to realize there can and must be a better way than what we’ve got today. I will present evidence this semester that now is the time — that this next decade is where it’s all going down — and if you’re not part of the solution, then you’re part of the problem.
