USS allocates money for two speakers this semester, refunds money from Moore program
The Undergraduate Student Senate Allocations Committee allocated $10,620.50 yesterday to bring two speakers to Kent State this semester.
The committee also returned about $35,000 of the allocated $50,000 from last semester’s Michael Moore program to the USS funds.
“We allocated more than ended up being used,” Executive Director Gary Broadbent said. “And we had extra revenue come from tickets sold to non-students. It cost each student less than a dollar for the Michael Moore program.”
Kent Neo-Pagan Coalition was allocated $1,616.50 to have lecturer Shawn Brown speak about African spiritual traditions. The lecture will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 23 in the Student Center room 317 and will coincide with Black History Month.
Black United Students was allocated $9,004 to have author Na’im Akbar speak about self-determination at 7:30 p.m. March 9 in Oscar Ritchie Hall.
