January 23, 2005
Joseph Heidrick, 26, of Parma, was indicted Thursday after being arrested Jan. 12 for soliciting sexual acts to underage girls as they walked home from school in Ravenna.
Heidrick, who attends Kent State, has been indicted on six counts of importuning and two counts of public indecency, said Darlene Pepper, judicial assistant for Judge John A. Enlow.
His preliminary hearing, set for Friday, was dismissed from Judge Barbara Watson’s court for further review, said Vicki Bennett, assignment commissioner and court administrator for the Portage County Common Pleas Court.
Heidrick is scheduled to be arraigned in Judge Enlow’s common pleas court today, Pepper said. He was being held on a $50,000 cash bond after his arrest.
According to the Record-Courier, Ravenna police officers arrested Heidrick at the Portage County Adult Probation Department after a Kent police officer alerted them. The officer had previously investigated Heidrick on similar complaints in Kent.
At the time Heidrick was on probation for public indecency in Kent. His probation officer called him for a meeting, and Heidrick was then arrested.
