In response to the Sept. 28 Their View:” Ending my relationship with Facebook” by Christopher Hook
“Great article. I got rid of my facebook too (I’m addicted to Twitter though). Facebook is sooo voyeuristic. I’ve managed just fine without it.”

In response to the Sept. 24 Our View “Get to know us first” by the editorial board:
“It’s not just about race or sexual preference, it’s also about age. I’m 33 years old, and it’s a lot harder for me to make friends. 18, 19, and 20 year olds don’t want to hang out with the “old man” In one of my classes the Professor asked my age. (It was relevant to our conversation.) When I said 33 I heard from behind me someone say “Wow.” 33 is not that old. I guess what I’m trying to say is, talk to us, we’re not “old perverts” we’re just adults that want a better life for our family.”

In response to the Sept. 22 guest column, “Thoughts on evangelism” by Sarah Caplan:
“Let’s take a moment here and pretend that Risman preacher isn’t preaching about Christianity — he’s preaching about racism, and why segregation is right. What then? Should we not be allowed to express our disgust at his sharing beliefs offensive to us just because he has a right to express them? And believe it or not, being evangelized is offensive to some people.
Further, there are people who study and do homework in Risman Plaza, and he is interrupting them on a regular basis. This is not a church; it’s a school. If he wants to preach to college students, fine. But the least he could do is find someplace less disruptive to do it.”

In response to the Sept. 21 column, “Boom (Shakalaka)” by Nick Baker:
“And Scottie Pippin back in the day in Chicago with a gun in his car, and Ray Lewis in the limo too “close” to that murder, hmmm – I cant think of one single solitary thing all that these particular athletes have in common – not one single thing. Nothing in their background could possibly be an influence – nothing at all.”
