Meet the candidates: Undergraduate Student Government

Undergraduate Student Government elections for the 2022-2023 academic year opened at 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 22 and closes at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 23. This year, 21 candidates filed their petitions to campaign for open positions. The campaigning phase began Feb. 28 at noon and as elections draw near, they are all working busily to gain the student vote.
USG is the representative organization for undergraduate students across all Kent campuses and served the student body since 1924. USG has advocated for students with the Board of Trustees for more than 90 years.
USG is the direct line of communication to university administration and addresses problems in university life that directly affect Kent State’s undergraduate student population.
USG is composed of eight elected director positions, 10 elected senator positions and one elected Student Body President.
The director positions include:
- Director of Academic Affairs
- Director of Community Affairs
- Director of Student Involvement
- Director of Business and Finance
- Director of Governmental Affairs
- Director of Student Advancement
- Director of Student Programming
- Director of Marketing and Communications
Senatorial positions are open for the:
- Honors College
- College of Aeronautics and Engineering
- College of Communication and Information
- College of Education, Health and Human Services
- College of Architecture and Environmental Design
- College of Nursing and the College of Public Health
- College of the Arts, the College of Arts and Sciences
- Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship
Students can vote on the USG election website.
USG will release unofficial election results at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 23. Official election results will be announced April 6 at USG’s “Passing of the Gavel” ceremony where the 2022-2023 board will take office.
The final public USG meeting for the 2021-2022 academic year will be held Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Governance Chambers, located in the Kent State Student Center.
