Police respond to Stopher Hall altercation
August 29, 2022
Kent State police were called to Stopher Hall on Sunday night following a report of a fight in the residence hall.
An officer arrived on the scene around 10:30 p.m.—police described the incident as disorderly conduct.
“When you have a lot of people that are starting to live with each other, getting to know each other, different personalities, sometimes they have to work through some issues,” said Kent State Police Sergeant Tricia Knoles. “Anytime you have people living together, you’re gonna tend to have conflicts.”
Students’ posts on the social media platform Yik Yak sparked discussion about the incident.
The official police report is unavailable at this time. Knoles said it should be completed and available to the public either Monday or Tuesday.
It is unclear at this time whether the individuals involved will be charged in the incident. It is not clear whether they were roommates.
“It’s just the first one of the year,” Knoles said. “Maybe they were like, ‘Oh my gosh, police are here.’ So I’m sure there’ll be plenty of other arguments throughout the year.”
