With the 50th anniversary of the May 4 shootings coming up this spring, the Kent State campus is preparing for it in various ways. One way is opening up exhibits to teach and inform. 

The newest exhibit, called “Through the Looking Glass,” opened Dec. 3 in the Muse lab in the Library. It’s an interactive exhibit that uses augmented reality and 3D technology to make artifacts from May 4, 1970 come to life. 

Professor Abe Avnisan and his digital science capstone class have been working on this exhibit all semester. Avnisan said it’s important for Kent students to understand what happened that day in 1970. “This is, I think, a way to take something that they know about and are aware of and make it more real,” Avnisan said.
