Hockey extends losing streak in loss to Cleary

Kent State’s hockey team traveled to Cleary University, losing 3-2 and extending its losing streak.
Kent State is now 4-6 on the season.
Cleary’s Ben Gledhow capitalized on KSU’s penalty and scored on a power play with 13:25 left in the first period. Jonny Gardiner assisted Gledhow. Cleary led 1-0.
The second period contained a lot more action than the first period.
KSU senior forward Jake Friedman scored in the second period with 12:30 left. Not long after KSU junior forward Joey Gallo found the back of the net, making it 2-1 with 10:50 left in the second period.
Gledhow scored yet again, tying it late in the second period with 1:10 remaining. Gledhow was assisted by Wes Smith.
The Flashes fought hard throughout the third period. KSU conceded a goal late in the third period making it 3-2 with 2:50 remaining. Jonny Gardiner scored for the Cougars.
The Flashes committed five penalties which led to 12 minutes of power play minutes for the Cougars. Cleary had eight penalties which led to 16 minutes of power play for the Flashes.
The Flashes executed 23 shots on goal and won 34 face-offs.
Kent State Hockey will take on Lawrence Tech on Friday 5 p.m. at Clark Park.
