Shoppers looking for something different in downtown Kent have a new women’s clothing boutique to visit in Acorn Alley.

Rachel Turner, store manager and buyer for Tiger Rae Boutique, opened the shop Jan. 26.

“My friend Jared Abell, who owns Hippy Fox Rocks, and I were talking one day and we said that Kent really needs a boutique, we don’t have anything like this,” Turner said. “It was probably a year ago that we started talking about this.”

Tiger Rae offers styles that change with the seasons.

“We have a lot of clothing, a nice bath and body section where the scents will change with the seasons. We have chocolate, jewelry and handbags. We have a little bit of everything,” Turner said.

As the weather gets warmer Tiger Rae Boutique will offer new products.

“I’m going for a girly and warm vibe. We are getting some more bright colors as spring starts and we’re going to start carrying water bottles,” Turner said. “I want to do a birthday section too. It’s in the works.”

All items are currently under $45.

“I want people to be able to shop and not just look,” Turner said.

Tuner and Abell opened the store because they saw a need for something different in downtown Kent.

“I think Tiger Rae is something different from what we have at Acorn Alley. I love that everything is pretty affordable,” local Kent shopper Sami Brenner said. “I really like the girly vibe the store has. It’s different from any other stores at Acorn Alley.”

The store offers sizes ranging from small to 3X.

“I hope that there’s something for everybody,” Turner said.

Tiger Rae is the only women’s clothing boutique in downtown Kent.

“Acorn Alley is a fun little spot to go and shop at unique local stores,” local Kent shopper V Hewitt said. “I love when new places open up, and being able to come visit them on the weekends makes this city feel more like home.”

Tiger Rae Boutique is open at 164 E Main St, Kent, OH 44240. Its hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
