$50,000 bond set for suspected Kent sorority stalker
October 15, 2019
A $50,000 bond was set for a man arrested in association with several prowling incidents at sorority houses on Fraternity Circle.
Kent Police arrested 43-year-old Steven Franzreb of North Royalton, Ohio, around 10:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at D’Agnese’s, a restaurant in Broadview Heights, Ohio, where he worked as a bartender. According to Kent Police, the suspect appeared once at the Delta Gamma sorority house and twice at the Alpha Phi sorority house in the early hours of the morning. Security footage from the sorority houses shows a man with writing across his chest wearing a red Speedo and touching himself inappropriately.
Franzreb was charged with menacing by stalking, a fourth degree felony, which carries a maximum sentence of eighteen months in prison and a maximum fine of $5,000 in court costs. Kent Police worked with the U.S. Marshals’ office to identify Franzreb and obtain an arrest warrant, according to a press release from Kent Police.

He appeared before Judge Barbara Oswick Tuesday at the Portage County Municipal Court in Ravenna. Oswick said if Franzreb makes bond, he cannot be on any properties owned by or affiliated with Kent State and will be placed on house arrest.
Franzreb is being held in the Portage County jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday at 11 a.m. at the Kent branch of the Portage County Municipal Court. According to the Record-Courier, his case is expected to go to the Portage County Grand Jury this week—officials said it’s likely more charges are coming and they are still investigating.
