University sees first increase In enrollment since pandemic

The university saw an increase in fall semester enrollment for the first time in two years, according to 15-day enrollment numbers released Tuesday.

The document reported 25,283 (preponderant) students attend the Kent campus this semester, which is an 0.82% increase from the previous fall.

University President Todd Diacon addressed the report in his routine online address called “Talking with Todd.”

”We have a very strong freshman class on the campus in terms of the numbers of students,” he said. “We enrolled more than 4,200 new students.”

The 15 Day enrollment statistics is a report that shows how many students are attending the Kent campus and the university’s seven satellite campuses.

Diacon also mentioned that the number of freshmen returning as sophomores at the regional campuses increased nearly 4%.

“This is the first year on the Kent campus since 2012 that we’re starting an academic year with more students than we ended the previous year,” Diacon said.
