H2O Church, a Kent State Christian student organization on campus, will throw a fall retreat at Camp Elkhorn in Bergholz, Ohio, Oct. 18 and 19.
“It’s a good way for students to get off campus and meet new people in a fun and different kind of environment than in a classroom,” Eric Asp, president of H20 Church, said.
Students in the group can participate in an overnight camping trip and stay in bunk houses, spend time outdoors with other students and attend a mass. During the mass service, students sing Christian songs and attend a pastor’s sermon.
Following mass, Asp said students will be able to make new connections with others while playing recreational games and board games.
They will also hold a H2Olympics, where students participate in Olympic-style games. The games will consist of capture the flag and many others.
The cost for the trip is $50, which includes housing, snacks and all three meals on Saturday while attending.
If students don’t have a ride to the camp, the organization offers rides through a program called Life Group.
