Many Kent State students may be registered in Ohio but are unable to travel home for Election Day. This doesn’t mean they’ve missed their chance to vote.
If a student has not already voted in their home county and has no plan to, they may vote in Portage County on Tuesday.
Here’s how:
- Go to the polling location assigned to your Kent address. Find this address here.
- Present your Ohio identification with the out-of-county address and explain that you are in the right precinct but would like to move your voter registration to Kent and vote on a provisional ballot.
- A provisional ballot will count after the Portage County Board of Elections determines a second ballot has not been cast.
Mail-in-ballots can still be returned before 7:30 p.m. to the elections office at 459 S. Meridian St. in Ravenna.
Out-of-state students who live in Kent but have not registered to vote in Ohio cannot vote in Ohio. If a student originally from another state has registered to vote in Ohio, they may use a valid passport or Ohio ID at their assigned precinct.
