The ex-husband of a Kent State Ashtabula student, who was found dead in July, was indicted on murder and other charges.

The Ashtabula County Grand Jury indicted Jeffrey Stanley for murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence, gross abuse of a corpse and domestic violence, Prosecutor Nicholas A. Iarocci announced in a press release Wednesday.

Police named Stanley, 28, a person of interest after 23-year-old Rand Hilal al Dulaimi disappeared.

“Stanley will be arraigned on the charges involving the death of Rand Hilal Al Dulaimi before Ashtabula County Common Pleas Court Judge Gary L. Yost in the near future,” according to the press release.

Stanley is already incarcerated at the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center in Youngstown on a separate conviction involving federal child pornography charges.

Authorities discovered Al Dulaimi’s body in a wooded area near North Bend Road in Ashtabula, which was close to her last known location, the home of her then-estranged husband Stanley.

She died from neck compression and blunt force head trauma, Ashtabula County Coroner Pamela Lancaster said.

The coroner’s office ruled Al Dulaimi’s death a homicide in September.

The couple’s divorce was finalized the day after police discovered her body, according to court records.

Al Dulaimi and Stanley’s son, Omar, was placed in the custody of the Ashtabula County Children Services after she disappeared.

She majored in biotechnology at the Ashtabula campus.
