Kent State (3-2, 2-0 Mid-American Conference) earned their highest score of the season at today’s meet, but George Washington University took first by less than half a point.

Kent State earned a total of 196.050, putting them ahead of Northern Illinois University’s score of 193.900. George Washington outscored both teams at 196.075.

Sophomore Rachel Stypinski took first in the floor exercise with a score of 9.950. Junior Jordan Hardison followed her with 9.900 points.

Stypinksi tied sophomore Ali Marrero for first on the uneven bars. The team earned a total of 49.250 during the second rotation, making the bars their highest scoring event. 

Stypinksi lead the way again on beam. She tied George Washington’s Alex DeMoura for first with a score of 9.900. Sophomore Brooke Timko took third for the Flashes with a score of 9.850 on beam.

Nicolle Eastman lead the Flashes on vault with a score of 9.800, which put her in fourth place behind three gymnasts from George Washington.

The team will travel to Muncie, Indiana on Sunday as they take on Lindenwood University, Ball State University and the University of Kentucky at 1 p.m.
