Opinion: Palin strikes back
September 10, 2015
As we all know, Donald Trump is a well-known figure in America. I’m sure everyone has seen his famous toupee meme or read his tweets about illegal immigration. Somehow Papa Trump is high in popularity across the country. However, one minor detail could possibly derail his campaign.
Palin. Yes, Sarah Palin; The governor from Alaska who single-handedly put presidential elections on the map for internet memes. In case you forgot who she was, Tina Fey went on Saturday Night Live and acted as Palin. Her famous quote, “I can see Russia from my house,” may ring a bell.
Anyways, Papa Trump recently made headlines due to the fact that he would love to have Sarah Palin on his Administration if he’s elected President.
Homegirl Sarah has also chosen the position she would like to have if Trump wins. In an article on Vox, Palin said she would like to be in-charge of the Department of Energy.
Palin told CNN:
“I’d let the states start having more control over the lands that are within their boundaries and the people who are affected by the developments within their states.”
Fun facts about that statement Sarah; the Department of Energy has nothing to do with development of land within the states. The Department of Energy is in charge of the nation’s nuclear energy programs. This also means she would oversee the nuclear weapons program.
Let that one sit with you for a second.
Okay, bring it back; Mama Palin was also quoted in an article with The Guardian saying that people who immigrate to the good ole United States of America should speak American. Yes, American. Not English. I’m not sure what she meant by that. Maybe it’s some Alaskan hockey mom dialect that I don’t understand, dontchya know?
So if you consider voting for Papa Trump, which is starting to be popular among my peers on campus, please educate yourself on his plans for the country. Trump does have some good ideas that could help the country when it comes to the economy. Personally, I was considering voting for him. However, Sarah Palin comes along with that vote.
Do we really want a lady who doesn’t know the difference between the Department of Energy and Department of Interior? Do we want to unleash that on the country? I would hope you agree with me when I say that Sarah Palin is never a good idea when it comes to holding a public office.
