Concluding Hispanic Heritage Month, Sharlene Ramos Chesnes will speak on the importance of ethnic identity Tuesday.

Chesnes, a Kent State alumna, CEO of InterChez and Board of Trustees member for Northeast Ohio Medical University, will present from noon to 1:30 p.m. in Student Center Room 206.

This event is a part of “Soup and Substance,” a monthly dialogue series presented by the Student Multicultural Center. The event is free, and attendees will be provided with a soup lunch.

Trinidy Jeter, program coordinator for the Student Multicultural Center, said Chesnes will offer a voice on maintaining your identity.

“It’s important for our students to hear stories from successful people about what it means to be prosperous, what it means to be successful,” Jeter said. “Not only that but maintaining who you are, maintaining your identity in that experience, and that’s the voice she is going to offer.”
