The body of a man missing for days was found floating in the Cuyahoga River Saturday near Stow Street by a group of kayakers.

Portage County Coroner’s Office confirmed that the body was identified by a relative as 28-year-old Dante Warren of Kent. He was reported missing to Kent Police on Sept. 16.

The kayakers had not yet gotten into the water when they saw the body and called for emergency crews at 12:22 p.m. Saturday.

Wayne Enders, administrator of the coroner’s office, said an autopsy early Thursday afternoon confirmed freshwater drowning as Warren’s cause of death. The Portage County Coroner signed off on the cause of death and declared the death accidental.

The Kent Police Department, Kent Fire Department and Portage County Water Rescue Team responded to the call Saturday.

Graveside services for Warren will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent.
