When most people think of Ray’s Place they think of a good place to get a beer and relax with friends.
They don’t think of paying for college.
But Ray’s Place owner Charlie Thomas wants to change that.
This year Thomas will award the first Ray’s Place Entrepreneurship Scholarship to a Kent State student.
The scholarship will go to a full time, undergraduate junior or senior in the College of Business Administration who also works at least fifteen hours a week and need financial assistance.
Thomas says his own experience in college is what made him want to start the scholarship.
SOT: (Thomas)
I PUT MYSELF THROUGH COLLEGE AND I WAS GLAD I WORKED AND DID THAT.
I FELT PROUD ABOUT IT AND I THOUGHT THERE’S A LOT OF OTHER STUDENTS DOING THE SAME THING SO WHY NOT REWARD THEM AND HOPEFULLY HELP SOME DESERVING STUDENTS WHO ARE WORKING THEIR WAY THROUGH COLLEGE AND GIVE SOMETHING BACK.
The amount for the scholarship is determined by donations.
To donate visit Rays Place dot com.

Critique:
My b-roll was shaky because I was trying to follow the owner around the restaurant.
I also wish my hand wasn’t in the shot during his SOT.
