Kent State’s Apple enthusiasts will notice a big change to campus this fall with the Apple Store’s move to the Student Center.

The campus Apple Store was originally housed on the second floor of the Art Building, but moved over the summer to their new home inside the University Bookstore.

“The school and the bookstore have been working on it for a long time,” said Greyson Jones, an Apple student employee and sophomore social geography major. “We actually got the contract in mid-May”.

Sales were initially slow, but the store recently sold its 550th Apple computer unit. According to Jones, about 80 percent of the computers sold at the University Bookstore have been Apple machines since the store relocated.

The Apple Store sells computers, accessories, batteries and also helps with minor troubleshooting and software issues.

Apple recently certified The Tech Spot, the campus computer repair service. Students can now have their Macs repaired in The Tech Spot’s Tri-Tower’s rotunda location.

A new Apple store is also under construction in Summit Mall. It is set to open late this fall.
