Linden Road fire limited to garage
December 4, 2009
A garage fire at 216 Linden Road off Crain Avenue was contained this morning at about 3:18 a.m.
Capt. John Tosko of the Kent City Fire Department said the flames were limited to the garage and only did damage to the car and garage itself. The garage is a separate building from the house.
He said firefighters do not know what caused the fire but do believe it to be suspicious in nature. They will continue the investigation to determine the cause.
The homeowners were home during the time of the fire and called the fire department.
“The homeowner smelled smoke and went out to investigate,” Tosko said. “When she looked outside she seen her garage on fire.”
There was no injury, but Tosko estimated damage to the garage at approximately $7,500.
The Linden Road fire came three days after a Sherman Street fire on Wednesday, Dec. 2.
