Lefton names vice president for diversity

Brown’s appointment announced at Board of Trustees meeting
President Lester Lefton named Alfreda Brown as the university’s vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion.
He made the announcement at the Board of Trustees meeting this afternoon.
“Diversity and inclusion are important priorities at Kent State,” Lefton said in a statement. “They are an integral part of our excellence agenda, and due to their importance, we created this vice presidential position to promote diversity, equity and inclusion. Alfreda Brown has demonstrated her diversity leadership and her passion for this position, and I welcome her to our Kent State community.”
As vice president for diversity, Brown will lead the university’s diversity and inclusion efforts.
She comes to Kent State from the Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, where she currently serves as assistant dean of the College of Applied Arts and Science.
