Our view: A new beginning is a gift

For some it’s a complete beginning, while others are beginning again. Perhaps it’s the first time, or perhaps it’s the third first time. No matter what year a student is in, it’s all a new beginning.

A new beginning is a gift.

This school year, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to make a few new friends. It would be great to figure out a way to make some extra cash on the side – who knows where the economy could be tomorrow. Try a new restaurant in downtown Kent (support local businesses). Ask someone out on a date you’ve had your eye on since you first met in Earth Dynamics.

Sometimes even better than trying new things, a great new-year improvement could also be changing old habits. For example, when partying with friends, try not to set anything on fire.

There will be plenty of first days throughout a young person’s life, and there is no reason not to take advantage of each and every one. Try all the free events in the area. Try sushi. Make better decisions, keep only the truly good friends around.

It’s time to put away old summer

photos and break out cameras for back-to-school albums.

And if the first day doesn’t end up being the best day, tomorrow is just another beginning.

The above editorial is the consensus opinion of the Daily Kent Stater editorial board.
