It has been 64 years since the end of the Holocaust, and people from across the nation, including Kent, will honor the memories of the 6 million lives lost.

Alpha Epsilon Pi, Hillel, the Kent State Jewish Studies Program and B’nai B’rith International are having a Holocaust Memorial Name Reading and Walk to Remember from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow.

Joel Abramson, junior theater and communication studies major, played a large part in organizing the event at Kent State.

“It’s very important to remember the lives lost, and this is one way we can do that,” he said.

The walk is normally 24 hours, but because it’s the first year, organizers decided only to make it 12 hours. They will read the names of people who died in the Holocaust in front of the M.A.C. Center.

At 5 p.m. they will have a silent march around campus and will pass out information cards about the Holocaust to help never to forget the lives lost.

The Holocaust remembrance is a national Alpha Epsilon Pi event, and Kent State’s branch is going to try to make its activities annual.
