Five men face felony charges after alleged burglary in Kent

Kent Police arrested and charged five men with aggravated burglary at the 400 block of East Main Street in Kent Friday.
Christopher Lewis, 19, Johnathan Tinsley, 18, Ryan Smith, 18, Johnathan Butler, 18, and Joshua M. Henry, 18 – all of Richmond Heights – were charged with the crime, which is considered a felony in the state of Ohio.
In addition to burglary – which is punishable with up to a $20,000 fine and three to 10 years in jail – four of the men also face additional charges.
Lewis and Butler were also charged with underage drinking and arrested at the 200 block of South Lincoln Street.
Smith is facing an additional felony charge for allegedly assaulting a police officer at the railroad tracks on West Summit Street.
Tinsley was arrested at the scene and charged with resisting arrest.
Besides burglary and the assault charge, all of the other crimes are considered misdemeanors.
Bond is set at $500,000 for the defendants with the exception of Smith, whose bond was increased by an additional $20,000 for the assault charge.
A preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Friday.
