Kent Chorus brings holiday joy to town
December 5, 2008
The Kent Chorus is bringing the spirit of Christmas Sunday with its concert performance of Handel’s “Messiah.”
The concert will also feature a performance by the Women’s Chorus and will begin with a Texas version of Handel’s “Messiah” called “The Jalapeño Chorus.”
“It’s pretty funny,” said Scott MacPherson, director of choral activities. “It’s all with apologies to Handel; we don’t want him to be too upset.”
A live orchestra will accompany the choir, and the audience will be invited to sing along to Christmas carols.
“There is definitely a coldness in the air,” said MacPherson. “The feeling of the holidays is coming.”
The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in the Cartwright auditorium Tickets are $15.
