Chancellor Eric Fingerhut’s report detailing higher education in Ohio for the next decade will be released today.

The 10-year strategic plan will be posted online today at 11 a.m. — the same time Fingerhut makes his formal delivery of the plan to Gov. Ted Strickland in the governor’s office.

The report detailing the University System of Ohio aims to increase the number of people in Ohio with higher education degrees while spurring an economic turnaround in the state.

The University System of Ohio is the term coined by Fingerhut to describe increased collaboration among Ohio’s 13 public universities with 24 branch campuses, a public medical school and 23 two-year technical and community colleges.

Strickland appointed Fingerhut as chancellor last year. He charged Fingerhut to develop a plan that would raise the quality of higher education in the state and make it more affordable.
