FlashFAST system to be unavailable over the weekend

Don’t count on accessing any on-campus academic history this weekend between midnight Saturday until 2 p.m. Sunday.

An e-mail sent to students last Saturday indicated that Banner, the software which includes FlashFAST, will be unavailable for a brief period of time.

The purpose of this outage is to move students’ academic history over to Banner from the former system, SIS Plus. Student academic history includes courses for each term, grades, degrees or any other type of entry into the student’s official transcript, said Roberta Sikula-Schwalm, executive director of Enterprise Research Planning.

“A good portion of the records are already in Banner,” Sikula-Schwalm said. “This outage is to convert the remaining 5 million records.”

Sikula-Schwalm said about 123 million records have already been shifted into the Banner database, and this is the final load.

After the transfer has finished on Sunday, Sikula-Schwalm’s team will look through the data to ensure that no problems occurred.

“We’re not expecting any problems,” Sikula-Schwalm said. “This has been tested for some time now, and we are not anticipating any issues. But if there were, we would certainly notify students.”

If everything goes according to plan, FlashFAST will be back in effect on Monday.
