PRIDE!Kent prom plans to leave glam at the door
April 26, 2007
PRIDE!Kent wants everyone to dress up in their tackiest prom attire and come to “Bad Prom” on Saturday night.
From 9 p.m. to midnight, the Rathskeller will be transformed into a scene straight out of a cheesy high school teen flick.
Cassie McClelland, programming director of PRIDE!Kent, said the point of the theme is for everyone to leave the typical prom clothes at home, and wear fun things one wouldn’t normally wear.
“We’re gonna play lots of ’80s and ’90s music too,” she said.
President of PRIDE!Kent Kevin Casimer said dressing up isn’t mandatory, but it’ll make prom more fun if everyone does.
“Come dressed in your worst prom outfit ever!” he said, quoting the “Bad Prom” flier.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided, and admission is free. Casimer said there will also be interactive games like the limbo and the Macarena, and Polaroids will be taken for $1.
“And you don’t have to be queer to come,” he said. “Everyone is welcome, and the bar will be open too.”
