Final four provost applicants revealed
January 19, 2007
The names of the four applicants who applied for senior vice president for academic affairs and provost have been revealed.
James Gaudino, head of the search committee and dean of the College of Communication and Information, said the candidates were chosen Tuesday, and their names were announced today.
The four candidates chosen are:
• Walter Harris Jr. – Provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at Loyola University, New Orleans.
• Elizabeth Langland – Provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at Purchase College, State University of New York.
• Timothy J. Chandler – Dean of the College of Arts, Kent State.
• Robert G. Frank – Dean and professor of the College of Public Health and Health Professions, University of Florida.
Gaudino said the reason the search committee waited to announce the names was because the four were invited to campus for interviews, and the committee was waiting for them to accept their invitation.
From Jan. 25 to Feb. 6 each candidate will visit campus for two days. During this time, candidates will meet with several organizations, including student groups, and tour the campus.
Gaudino said the search committee hopes to have its recommendation for the position in to President Lester Lefton by Feb. 15.
